Officials to share new details on Berks Co. crash that killed fire chiefs

After a pair of Berks County fire officials were killed in a crash along Kutztown Road in Richmond Township on Saturday, officials were set to provide new information on the investigation that followed the deadly incident.

wn Fire Company’s headquarters in Fleetwood to discuss the crash that killed Fire Chief Jeffory L. Buck and Assistant Fire Chief Robert R. Shick, Jr.

Officials have said the pair were killed when an all-terrain vehicle they were riding in while searching for a missing person was struck by a Toyota Camry driven by a man who, according to court documents, had smoked weed and had a “crack pipe” in his vehicle at the time the crash occurred.
On Tuesday, officials are expected to provide new information on the crash that killed Fire Chief Jeffory L. Buck and Assistant Fire Chief Robert R. Shick, Jr. and the arrest of the man suspected to have been responsible for the crash, Alexander Sepulveda Rivera of New York City. The event is set to begin at 11 a.m. and it will be livestreamed at the top of this article.
According to court documents, Alexander Sepulveda Rivera, 26, of New York City, has been charged with homicide by vehicle, driving under the influrence and related offenses for his suspected involvement in the crash.
Police claim, following the crash, investigators found suspected marijuana and a “crack pipe” in his vehicle.
And, when talking to officers shortly after the crash occurred, he allegedly told them he had fallen asleep at the wheel and was awoken by the crash — before he and a passenger allegedly attempted to flee the scene of the crash on foot.
A funeral for the slain firefighters is scheduled to be held on Saturday.
