(Courtesy of Nebraska Athletics) LINCOLN–(KFOR Apr. 6)–Former Nebraska football great Tony Davis died Sunday following complications linked to Parkinson’s Disease. Davis, who was a star athlete at Tecumseh High School and running back for the Huskers from 1972 to 1975, later played in the NFL for six season with the Cincinnati Bengals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers and one season in the USFL with Boston. Davis won MVP in the Cotton Bowl to cap the 1973 season, where he rushed for 1,000 yards as a sophomore, and the Sugar Bowl in the 1974 season. He was inducted into both Halls of Fame for those two bowls and was a 1981 inductee into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame. Services for Tony Davis are pending.
