A Much Cooler but Beautiful Easter Sunday After the showers and storms that moved through last night, Easter Sunday turned out to be a really nice day across central and eastern Kentucky, just noticeably cooler. We saw plenty of sunshine return to the region, but temperatures were about 20 degree s cooler compared to Saturday’s warmth. Afternoon highs only made it into the upper 50s, which is right in line with what we typically expect for early April. That cooler air arrived behind the cold front that pushed through overnight, bringing a refreshing but chilly feel to the holiday. Frost Advisory Tonight as Temperatures Drop As we head into tonight, skies will remain mostly clear and winds will become light, a setup that allows temperatures to fall quickly. Overnight lows will drop into the low to mid 30s, and that’s cold enough for widespread frost development across the area. Because of this, a Frost Advisory is in effect through early Monday morning. This means if you have any sensitive plants or early spring vegetation, you’ll want to take precautions. Even if you’re just heading out early Monday, expect a chilly start with frost possible on cars and surfaces. This setup is supported by calm winds and clear skies, which allow that colder air to settle in efficiently overnight. A Nice Rebound for Monday The good news is that the chill won’t stick around long during the day. As we move into Monday, winds will shift and we’ll start to see a return to a southwest flow, helping temperatures rebound nicely. With plenty of sunshine expected, highs will climb back into the mid 60s by the afternoon. It will feel much more comfortable compared to Sunday morning’s chill. More Cool Mornings Before a Bigger Warm-Up While afternoons improve, mornings will still be on the chilly side for a couple more days. Temperatures Tuesday morning could once again dip into the 30s, bringing another chance for patchy frost, especially in the Bluegrass region and other colder spots. Beyond that, the overall pattern turns much more favorable. Warmer and Sunny Pattern Takes Over Looking ahead through the rest of the week, the weather actually looks pretty great. We’ll see a steady warming trend: 60s continue early in the week Upper 60s to low 70s by midweek Mid to upper 70s by the end of the week High pressure will keep things mostly dry, with plenty of sunshine sticking around for several days. By the time we head into next weekend, temperatures could even approach 80 degrees again, giving us another taste of spring, or even early summer.
