Fort Worth Police were involved in a vehicle pursuit around 2:34 a.m. that resulted in a fatal crash. Officers initially observed a vehicle traveling on the highway without headlights on I-35 near Rosedale Street, according to police.  The suspect vehicle struck another vehicle and failed to sto p. Officers attempted to make a traffic stop but the driver did not yield and fled southbound on Interstate 35. During the pursuit, officers observed the suspect vehicle strike a second vehicle and again fail to stop. The pursuit continued until the suspect exited the highway near Tarver Road, police said. Officers briefly lost sight of the suspect vehicle, but continued to search for it. While officers were driving on the 1500 block of Tarver Road, the suspect vehicle was located off the roadway where it had crashed, according to officials. Inside the vehicle, officers found 2 men, one being the passenger, who exited the vehicle with what appeared to be minor injuries. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger was transported to a local hospital for his injuries. No officers or other citizens reported injuries as a result of this incident. The Fort Worth Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit and Major Case Unit responded and are actively investigating. Detectives are working to determine the full circumstances leading up to the pursuit and crash.
