Easter rain is beginning to slowly work out of the WCCB Charlotte viewing area. Rain will be completely gone by 8pm, but most of us will be dry by 6pm this evening. Overnight, cooler air works in and most of us will start our Monday off on a chilly note. The Piedmont can expect temperatures in the mid to upper 40s with lows near freezing in the High Country. Monday afternoon will feature about as nice of a day as you can ask for. Highs will be near 70 with a mix of sun and clouds across the area. Tuesday will be a repeat of Monday before a shot of cooler air moves in on Wednesday. A classic “Carolina Wedge” pattern arrives Wednesday, helping to shoot much cooler air down the spine of the Appalachian chain from the north. This will lead to one of our chillier days in a while with highs only in the low to mid 60s in the Foothills and Piedmont. Luckily, morning lows will stay above freezing outside of the High Country, so no need to worry about those plants! Temperatures get back to the warming trend after Wednesday, with 80s returning to the Queen City by next weekend. Outside of the temperature swings, the other big story is the goose egg in the rain department this week. Currently, there are no signs of rain next week locally. This continues to be a problem as drought worsens. So a friendly reminder that a statewide burn ban remains in effect until further notice! Sunday Night: Partly Cloudy. Low: 47°.
