Marcus’ 5 a.m. Sunday forecast
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Cool, dry air is flowing back into Central Indiana and that is going to set the stage for frost or a freeze over the next few nights. Warmer air returns later in the week along with the chance of rain thunder.
SUNDAY NIGHT:
The ni
ght starts out mostly clear but some clouds will approach from the northwest over time. A FROST ADVISORY is in effect from 1 AM – 9 AM Monday morning for locations southeast of Indianapolis. This is where there may be a better chance of frost formation. Protect plants and tender vegetation.
MONDAY:
Look for a mix of clouds sun during the day along with breezy NW winds from 10-25 mph. There could be a few showers across the northern part of Indiana early but for most of us things should be pretty good. Highs should top out in the 50s for most of us with 60s across Southern Indiana and 40s in the North.
MONDAY NIGHT:
Temperatures will be even colder Monday night into Tuesday morning and a potential freeze could occur. Some locations may dip into the mid 20s but Indianapolis is forecast to only drop into the low 30s. Once again, cover any tender plants and vegetation.
TUESDAY:
This will be the colder day of the week with highs in the 40s to lower 50s. Keep in mind the average high for this time of year is now around 60.
REST OF THE WEEK
By Wednesday, a shift in the pattern will begin. Winds will turn more southerly, which will allow temperatures to rebound. Highs will return to the mid-60s on Wednesday, putting us back above average. More 60s and 70s are possible Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. A cold front may sag into our area by late Thursday and hang around into Friday. This could kick off some showers and storms. At this point no strong or severe storms are expected. A bigger surge of warm air may blow in starting Sunday.
The outlook for the middle of the month suggests that we could get into another warm, wet, and active weather pattern. Stay tuned for details going forward.
