Photo: Gamecocks Women's Basketball Twitter   COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks are celebrating a big night at the “Big Dance” after beating the UConn Huskies 62-48 in the 2026 NCAA Women’s Final Four game.    The victory in Phoenix proved sweet for the Gamecocks a fter getting blown out by the Huskies in last year’s championship game. Friday night’s loss marked the team’s first loss since February of last season.   The Gamecocks defense smothered the Huskies, holding them to fewer than 50 points.  Coming up on ABC Columbia News at 11, the ABC Columbia sports team will have live post-game coverage.
