Purdue’s Braden Smith named consensus firstteam AllAmerican

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind (WISH) — Purdue senior point guard Braden Smith capped off his historic college career as a consensus first-team All-American, earning honors from both the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

th averaged 14.3 points, 8.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game this season, and is named a consensus first-team All-American for the second year in a row.
Smith is joined on the consensus All-American first team list by Michigan’s Yaxel Lendeborg, BYU’s A.J. Dybantsa, Duke’s Cameron Boozer, and Arkansas’ Darius Acuff Jr.
Smith became the NCAA’s all-time assists leader in the first round of the NCAA tournament this season against Queens University. Smith ended his career with 1,103 assists, 27 more than Duke’s Bobby Hurley (1991-94).
Additionally, Smith broke the NCAA all-time record for minutes played by a four-year player with 5,067 minutes played.
Purdue now has had at least one player become a first-team All-American in five consecutive seasons. The list includes (Jaden Ivey, 2022; Zach Edey, 2023 and 2024; Braden Smith, 2025 and 2026).
