To celebrate the label's 30th birthday, Om Records is having both a free Day Party and a ticketed Night Party on Saturday, May 9, and the daytime event will, like several other EDM parties before it, happen at Embarcadero Plaza.Much like parties thrown by another EDM label, DirtyBird, in both July 2 024 and June 2025, Om Records will be having a big dance party under the sun at Embarcadero Plaza this spring, in cooperation with Another Planet Entertainment (APE).There some big-name DJs participating, as we learn today, including Mark Farina, Shiny Objects, J Boogie, and Collette back to back with DJ Heather. The party kicks off at 1 pm and goes until 5 pm, and the event flyer says, "Celebrating three decades of future music on the glorious San Francisco waterfront. Attendees are being asked to RSVP here.The Night Party is happening at Great Northern starting at 9 pm on May 9. All of the above will be spinning along with Derrick Carter, Rithma, King Kooba, 40 Thieves and Homero Espinoza.APE has worked with the city to throw multiple large free concerts in the last several years, including last September's 15th anniversary party for Empire Records, with headliner Shaboozey, in the middle of Civic Center. And in addition to putting on Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park, the infrastructure for that festival was used on the weekends before and after it last year — both for the Grateful Dead 60th anniversary, and a Zach Bryan/Kings of Leon show the weekend after Outside Lands.Mayor Daniel Lurie put out a statement celebrating the announcement, saying, "From last year’s Summer of Music in Golden Gate Park to free concerts across downtown and throughout our city, San Francisco is a music city.
