An employee at Planet Fitness was stabbed by a person who had been banned from the gym, according to the Cheltenham Township Police Department. Officers and EMS were called to the Planet Fitness on the 1000 block of South Easton Road in the Wyncote section of Cheltenham Township after it was rep orted that someone was stabbed around 12:30 p.m., police said. Léelo en español aquí When first responders got to the gym on Thursday, April 2, they found an employee suffering from multiple stab wounds that were considered life threatening, officials explained. The worker was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police were able to find a person who they believe is the suspect. That person is expected to face several criminal charges. According to investigators, the suspect had been previously banned from the gym and had gotten into a fight with the worker which is what led to the stabbing. “At Planet Fitness, the safety and well-being of our team members and members is our top priority. We are saddened by the incident that took place at our Cheltenham location. Our thoughts are with the team member as they recover. We appreciate local law enforcement’s quick action, and the franchise owner is fully supporting them in their investigation,” a spokesperson for Planet Fitness wrote in a statement to NBC10.
