Eugene Mirman, a comedian and actor known for voicing the role of Gene Belcher on the animated television series “Bob’s Burgers,” was hospitalized on Tuesday with serious injuries after crashing his car at a New Hampshire toll booth. New Hampshire State Police responded to reports of a cra sh involving a 2026 Lucid Gravity at the Bedford Toll Plaza on the Everett Turnpike just before noon on Tuesday, according to a press release. The electric vehicle caught fire, and witnesses said someone appeared to be trapped in the vehicle. A state trooper assigned to Gov. Kelly Ayotte’s security detail came upon the crash and stopped to help, pulling Mirman out of the burning car through a window, state police said.  Police identified the driver as 51-year-old Yevgeny Mirman of Massachusetts and said he was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital with “serious injuries.” The trooper’s name is not being released because of the nature of their position, state police said. “Certainly, their actions were heroic in what they did,” said State Police Col. Mark Hall. “Without hesitation, they put themselves in danger to render aid to someone who was in need of it.” Mirman’s publicist confirmed the actor was hurt in the crash and said he is on the mend. “Eugene was in a very scary car accident,” Sheila Kenny said in a statement to NBC Boston. “He wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders and hospital staff who saved him. He is grateful to be on the mend. At this time, we kindly ask for privacy for Eugene and his family as he focuses on recovering from his injuries.” The crash snarled traffic on the highway. The Bedford toll plaza has a long history of serious crashes. The one that injured Mirman came just two days after another at the same location. The incident is currently under investigation. No charges have yet been filed. ...read more read less
