Apr 01, 2026
Whenever the cosmos is in danger there’s only one way to save it, call a plumber.
Mario, king of the Nintendo video game universe is back, in the new animated feature, “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.”
Chris Pratt and Charlie Day are heading up the voice cast, and they are loving every mi
nute of it.
It’s game on for Mario and Luigi in “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.”
Chris Pratt and Charlie Day are returning as the plumbing brothers from Brooklyn.
It seems the second time around was a ton of fun.
Charlie Day: “The first time you’re a little unsure exactly of what the movie’s gonna be and what the voice should be how it’s all gonna turn out and whether you can live up to these iconic characters that people feel so close to, attached to. The second movie you have a little bit more breathing room.”
The characters boldly go where none of them have gone before.
Chris Pratt: “We’re out we’re moving outside of the mushroom kingdom and outside of Brooklyn. We are incorporating so many different worlds from different iterations of the Mario games through time to the 40 years that Nintendo’s been around. We’re going cosmic.”
This may be an animated movie, but it feels like a big-screen blockbuster.
Chris Pratt: “This film plays like any big budget action movie. The set pieces are incredible, the fight sequences are astounding.”
Mario and Luigi aren’t alone in the galaxy. Long-time favorites like Princess Peach and Bowser show up. Even Toad and Yoshi are on board.
Mario: “Hey toad lookin’ good.”
Toad: “Umm who is this?”
Yoshi: “Yoshi!”
Toad: “So some dinosaur just shows up and he’s now part of the group, cool.”
“The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” is a love letter to gamers young and old.
Charlie Day: “Even if you played it a little bit and many years ago, there will be things in this movie that will bring up memories.”
Chris Pratt: “It’s true.”
Charlie Day: “And bring you right back to that place in your childhood you’ll say ‘Oh gosh i remember playing that. I remember that level. I’d forgotten all about that.'”
