UPDATE: The mother of one of the shooting victims spoke with NBC10. Five people were shot and two were killed when a masked gunman began shooting in the Cobbs Creek neighborhood of West Philadelphia on Monday night, police said. Three people were hospitalized in this incident as well, police s aid. According to police, the shooting occurred around 8:40 p.m. in the area of 60th and Delancey streets. However, no suspects or motives have been announced at this time. NBC10 was on the scene to find at least 15 shell casings marked off for evidence on the street. In a Tuesday morning update, police said that two men, Naasir Boyd and Paul Cobb — both 24-years-old and from Philadelphia — were killed when shooting erupted in the Cobbs Creek section of West Philly on Monday. Three others were hurt in the shooting, as well, officials said — a 36-year-old who was shot in the stomach and has been hospitalized in critical condition and a 54-year-old and a 35-year-old who have been hospitalized in stable condition after both having been shot in the leg. According to police, the incident happened when a masked gunman fired on a crowd at that intersection from a white vehicle. Police are working to gather more information on the suspected gunman and the vehicle that was involved in this incident. It was unclear whether the shooting was at all related to the bar nearby as of late Monday. As of about 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, police said no arrests had yet been made.
