A man who broke into the announcer’s booth at the rodeo grounds in Kamas was arrested after a short foot pursuit last week, according to a shift report from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were dispatched to the area on Monday, March 23, to investigate a “suspicious” man rep orted on the premises. When they arrived, the man was naked and told deputies that people were after him. He then led deputies on a foot pursuit through a nearby neighborhood. Deputies ultimately took him into custody and transported him to the hospital for a medical evaluation. During the subsequent investigation, they also discovered that the man had broken into the announcer’s booth at the rodeo grounds and damaged the building. The Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple other calls between Monday, March 23, and Sunday, March 29, including suspected DUIs. Sunday, March 29 Deputies stopped a vehicle on S.R. 224 after they noted an equipment violation. They detected the odor of alcoholic beverages emanating from the car, and the driver was arrested for a suspected DUI in addition to having an open container in the vehicle. Saturday, March 28 A passerby called the Sheriff’s Office to report a car that had violated multiple traffic laws in Kamas. Deputies found the car and contacted the driver, who showed signs of impairment. The driver performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was arrested for a suspected DUI. Deputies then booked the driver into the Summit County Jail. Thursday, March 26 Deputies stopped a car in Kimball Junction after they observed traffic and registration violations. The driver showed signs of impairment during the traffic stop and was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail. The vehicle was impounded.
