Students at Sidney Sawyer Elementary School in Chicago’s Gage Park neighborhood received a fleet of 24 bikes on Monday.For some of the students, it was their first time on a bike at all.“I was a little nervous because it was my first time,” said kindergartener Monsé Maldonado. “I thought I was gonna drop myself, but I didn't. It turned out good.”Attorneys from the law firm Motorcycle Safety Lawyers helped raise the money for the nonprofit All Kids Bike, which donated the equipment. The law firm says they work with underprivileged schools who have the space to teach a bike education program. The school will also receive a curriculum to teach kids how to ride.The kids will first learn using the balance bike method. They’ll focus on balance and steering first without using the pedals.
