(KRON) -- A 28-year-old Sacramento man was killed early Monday morning after crashing on Interstate 80 in Vacaville and being ejected from his Toyota Corolla. The man was then run over multiple times on the roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers were alerted to the crash
around 2:57 a.m. on eastbound I-80 just west of Lagoon Valley Road. A preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of the blue Toyota first drove off the right side of the freeway before driving across all lanes to the left and crashing into the center divider wall, authorities said.

While the crashed Toyota was blocking lanes of the freeway, a Honda Accord slammed into the car at approximately 70 miles per hour, according to CHP. The Toyota driver was flung east of the crash site and came to a rest in the roadway.
Authorities said the Honda’s driver admitted to being distracted and was not focused on the roadway.
“As EMS arrived on scene, they observed a white Mercedes drive over the Toyota driver then pull to the right shoulder and wait for CHP arrival,” CHP wrote.
A Kia was also driven over the Toyota driver, authorities said. The occupants of the Kia pulled over and checked for damage before fleeing the scene.
The Toyota driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity was not immediately released.
The driver of the Honda was not arrested as of 9 a.m. Monday. The investigation is ongoing, CHP said.
