SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) -- A work crew struck a steel gas line while digging on West Walbrook Drive near Miller Avenue and Rainbow Drive in San Jose Friday morning, firefighters said. The accident caused gas to begin leaking at 9:16 a.m. about one block away from Miller Middle School. Firefighters evacuated people from some buildings in the neighborhood, while others were ordered to stay inside and shelter in place. Before 11 a.m., PGE utility crews arrived on the scene and shut off the flow of gas.
