ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO)– South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) says a former ODPS officer is being charged after selling a gun. According to SLED agents, 25-year-old Conner Gartman while employed with the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety made a traffic stop on July 6, 2025. During the traffic stop he seized a glock handgun. Agents say the glock was last seen in Gartman’s possession on recordings, and was turned over to the evidence room. He is also accused of not reporting the gun seizure or the return of the gun on his incident report. While interviewing with SLED agents, Gartman denied knowing what happened to the gun. But a further investigation identified witnesses who say Gartman sold one of them a pistol that matched the missing gun from the July 6 incident. The gun was later found to be reported as stolen in Richland County. Gartman was charged with misconduct in office on Monday, March 23, 2026. And booked into the Orangeburg County Detention Center.
