(KRON) -- The site of a former In-N-Out Burger location on Oakland's crime-ridden Hegenberger corridor could soon see new life. The prolific California burger chain cut bait with the location two years ago, citing "issues of ongoing crime." At the time, the closure made headlines as the first time In-N-Out Burger had closed a location. In the past four years, the area has lost a Denny's, a Black Bear Diner, and two Starbucks. According to Oakland property records, the property at 8300 Oakport Street near Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport is now owned by Chandi Hospitality Group. The Santa Rosa-based restaurant group operates a dozen restaurants around Northern California and several in India. Property records indicate plans to turn the former In-N-Out into another location of Curry Lane Kitchen, an Indian fast-food spot the Chandi group's founders operate in Punjab.
