A contractor who was working on a water tower in Burlington County, New Jersey, was rescued after suffering a medical emergency, police said.
The 63-year-old man was inspecting the water tower on the 200 block of Cedar Lane in Florence Township around 1 p.m. on Wednesday when he began to experien
ce chest pain, sources told NBC10.
The man — who is a contractor and not a township employee — called for help. Rescue crews — including the Burlington County Technical Rescue Team — responded to the scene. SkyForce10 was over the scene as first responders safely secured the man to a rescue board and carefully lowered him from the water tower using ropes.
The man was taken to the hospital for further evaluation. Officials have not yet revealed his condition.
“The Township extends its sincere appreciation to the Burlington County Technical Rescue Team and all responding first responders whose coordinated efforts ensured the safe and efficient removal of the individual,” Florence Township Police Chief Brian Boldizar said. “Their professionalism, training, and teamwork were instrumental in bringing this incident to a safe conclusion.”
