Yozakura, nighttime cherry blossom viewing
*Through Saturday, April 4: The cherry blossoms blooming outside the Oregon Capitol will be illuminated each night until 10 p.m. The tradition, called Yozakura, will be observed in the Capitol State Park. People are welcome to bring blankets and chairs or enjoy a picnic in the park during the event. Drinking alcohol is prohibited in the park. The Capitol is at 900 Court St. N.E.
Family Fun Day at Willamette Heritage Center
Wednesday, March 25: The Willamette Heritage Center is hosting a fun-filled day for families with games, crafts and other activities from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The activities, which will include a fiber arts demonstration, are catered to school-aged children. Kids will get a souvenir for attending the museum that day. Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, $11 for youth ages 6-17 and free for children 5 and under. Free admission is also available for active or retired military, a family member or support staff of a person with disabilities, educators, museum members, as well as SNAP, Medicaid and Oregon Trail card holders. The museum is at 1313 Mill St. S.E.
Something Rotten! at Pentacle Theatre
Through Saturday, April 11: The Pentacle Theatre is hosting its second play of the 2026 season, Something Rotten!, a satire-ridden musical comedy set in the Renaissance era. It centers on a pair of brothers who, with the guidance of a fortune teller, compose a musical to compete with the works of Shakespeare. It features a cast of about 27 volunteer performers. Showings happen most Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, with matinee showings on Sundays and Saturday, April 4. Tickets range $24 – $50, and can be bought online. The theatre is at 324 52nd Ave. N.W.
Improvised murder mystery at Grand Theatre
Friday, March 27: Audience members can help solve and offer suggestions for an improvised murder mystery playing out on the Grand Theatre stage. The show, put on by The Imperfect Murder Society, will be totally improvised, with actors getting surprise reveals, ideas for possible suspects and genre suggestions from the audience. The show is from 8 – 10 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. It is open to ages 18 and up. Tickets are $15 presale with additional fees, or $20 at the door. Presale tickets can be bought online. The theatre is at 191 High St. N.E.
Salem Center Easter egg hunt and market
*Saturday, March 28 – Sunday, March 29: The Salem Center will host a weekend-long Easter market with local small business vendors, free egg hunts and Easter Bunny photos. The Easter egg hunt will start at noon each day in the former Macy’s building. A separate egg hunt for ages 5 and under will be held in the vacant space next to the former Macy’s, starting at 12:30 p.m. The Salem Center has over 4,000 eggs for the egg hunts. Families can get a free printed photo with the Easter Bunny from 12 – 5 p.m. Several vendors selling baked treats, art, flowers, jewelry and other handmade goods will be in the north and south building from 12 – 5 p.m. The mall is at 401 Center St. N.E.
