Street Lines – 2026 Nissan Frontier PRO4X Crew Cab
Mar 24, 2026
Need a pickup that brings that rugged edge balanced with an interior focused on comfort and tech? The 2026 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X Crew Cab is a midsize truck that stands out in the segment by delivering all these qualities and more. From reliable off-road capability to making runs in the city with
the nimble maneuverability, Nissan brings it on with this automobile.
Whether for work or play, PRO-4X encapsulates Frontier’s relentless spirit with adventure-ready mechanical enhancements and advanced technology.
At first sight, I appreciated the selection of exterior’s color—the highly recommended “Tactical Green”—which gives it that military vibe. The “Lava Red” tow hooks; 17-inch PRO alloy, all-terrain tires; skid plates; and over fender flares complete its bold presence. Functionality for both work and play get a boost thanks to the Pro Convenience Package with the dampened and locking tailgate; sliding rear glass; a bed complete with lighting, an outlet, and cargo hooks; and signature Utili-track system to help secure tie downs.
Under the hood, the PRO-4X is a 3.8-liter V6 engine flexing a respectable 310 horsepower and 281 lb.-ft of torque, paired with a smooth-shifting nine-speed automatic transmission. The included 4WD system, combined with a 2-speed transfer case and multiple-terrain mode selector adds to the versatility to take on virtually any environment. Those who demand off-road challenges will give the Bilstein shocks, electronic locking rear differential, and aforementioned skid plates a salute as well.
Stepping inside, the cabin received an obvious upgrade, especially with the PRO Premium Package ($3,080). Charcoal leather-appointed seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats with storage underneath the second row step up the comfort level for everyone in the cabin. The eight-way power driver’s seat and dual-zone climate control help step up to Mother Nature’s inclement weather.
Addressing tech, the 12.3-inch touchscreen boasts crisp visuals and easy access to NissanConnect, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. I recommend the optional Fender premium audio system with a surrounding 10 speakers, which treats the ears thanks to the Pro Premium Package, and the addition of a Wi-Fi hotspot and wireless charging keeps everything connected especially for passengers. The Intelligent Around View Monitor, especially with its off-road mode, is also a standout for challenging terrain and tight parking.
With all the Frontier’s driving capabilities, safety needed to be addressed, and Nissan provides numerous features to complete that task. Everything from automatic emergency braking to blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, and intelligent cruise control works to everyone’s favor and eases the driver’s mind during every journey.
With a starting price just under $42K, the fully equipped trim I reviewed was still a reasonable $49K as equipped, which included the Pro Convenience and Premium Packages. Ultimately, the 2026 Frontier PRO-4X kicks the door in as a well-rounded, rugged, comfortable, upgraded truck to handle the streets, work sites, and mountains without a sweat.
Fuel Economy: 16 city/120 highway, 18 combined
Price: The 2026 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X Crew Cab starts at $41,870 and $48,735 as reviewed including the optional Pro Convenience and Premium Packages, destination, and premium paint.
