Lexington Celebrates Culture, Community, and Connection at 2026 St. Patrick’s Day Festival and Parade
Mar 24, 2026
Downtown Lexington was filled with energy, music, and community pride this past weekend as thousands gathered to celebrate the 2026 St. Patrick’s Day Festival and Parade. The expanded two-day celebration kicked off Friday, March 13, with the inaugural Lexington St. Patrick’s Eve LIVE! concert a
t the Lyric Theatre Cultural Arts Center, followed by a full day of festivities and the annual parade on Saturday, March 14.
One of the city’s longest-running civic events, the Alltech Lexington St. Patrick’s Parade and Festival is managed by the Bluegrass Irish Society and produced by Lexington Parks Recreation. Year after year, it brings together residents, families, performers, and community organizations in a shared celebration of Irish heritage and Lexington’s strong sense of community.
Saturday’s festivities transformed downtown into a vibrant cultural gathering space. The day began with the beloved Blessing of the Keg, blending Irish tradition with Kentucky heritage, and continued with a full lineup of performances, including Irish dance, bagpipe ensembles, and live Celtic music. Families and visitors explored food vendors, local artisans, and interactive activities, while thousands lined Main Street, filling the sidewalks and creating a lively and spirited atmosphere across the city center.
Leading this year’s parade as grand marshal was Ed Frederick, a longtime community leader, musician, and one of the original organizers of the festival. His participation marked both a celebration of his legacy and his final year in an official organizing role, making this year’s event extra special.
