Park City traffic stop blamed on graham cracker ‘mess’
Mar 23, 2026
The Park City Police Department has logged a series of cases involving drivers, as the community remained busy with spring break crowds.
The police pulled over a series of drivers for unspecified suspected traffic offenses in a variety of places. Public police logs in many of the cases did not p
rovide details. Officers in other cases, according to the agency, pulled drivers over for failing to stop at stop signs in Park Meadows, a taillight violation seen on Deer Valley Drive and driving a vehicle without a license plate along the Kearns Boulevard corridor. An officer also pulled over a driver in the area of the intersection of Deer Valley Drive and Bonanza Drive after, the police said, observing the vehicle failing to stop at a red light.
In another case, reported in the 8 a.m. hour on March 18, someone contacted the Police Department indicating an officer stopped them in the overnight hours. The person told dispatchers the officer “was really nice, but he didn’t give her her passport back,” according to public police logs. The case was reported in the area of the 500 block of Swede Alley.
Officers, meanwhile, stopped two drivers within an hour of each other in the 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. hours of March 19 in cases involving some sort of suspected distracted driving.
An officer at 4:24 p.m. pulled over a driver in the area of Park Avenue and Saddle View Way, indicating the person was using a cellphone. The police described the other case, at 5:23 p.m. in the area of Kearns Boulevard and Sidewinder Drive, as “careless driving,” according to agency logs. The police said, “The driver claimed she was cleaning up a mess in her lap from a graham cracker.”
Traffic issues like speeding have long been one of the chief law-enforcement complaints of Parkites. The Police Department regularly conducts traffic patrols in various locales, among other measures, such as employing digital signs that display the speed of passing vehicles.
