CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A new state historical marker will be revealed at First Baptist Church Bermuda Hundred in a ceremony on Saturday. In a March 23 post on social media, Chesterfield County officials announced that a ceremony to unveil the new state historical land marker at First Ba ptist Church Bermuda Hundred, located at 4603 Bermuda Hundred Road, will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 28. Community members are invited to the ceremony to recognize the church's impactful legacy and the site's connection to the historic trading of enslaved Africans, according to the post. Between 1718 and 1772, at least 71 slave ships sailed from Africa and arrived to Bermuda Hundred where over 18,000 enslaved Africans landed.
