SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (KRON) -- An apparent DUI crash left two people dead and a third injured on southbound I-880 near Davis Street in San Leandro early Saturday morning, according to California Highway Patrol officials. Officials with the CHP said the crash happened around 5:30 a.m. Officers on the scene said a black Nissan Maxima crashed into the large post that holds the exit sign to Davis Street and was stuck between the post and the guardrail. There were three people in the car, two men and a woman. The two men, the driver and passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley with minor injuries and is expected to survive. Police said based on the statement from surviving passenger, alcohol and/or drugs most likely played a role in the crash.
