Like many of my fellow greater Park City skiers, I have been totally baffled by the lack of snow this winter. I have carefully researched the usual culprits — climate change, overpopulation, La Nina, even “weak” hornets that were unable to fly high in the trees to build their nests (sorry To m Clyde).  Finally I decided to “follow the science,” which led me straight to the source of the problem. Who among us has not seen the plastic palm tree and the two pink flamingos on the little island of a pond on Richardson Flat? They are highly visible to anyone driving on 248 from Park City to Kamas.  My research has determined that these objects were placed as a curse against Park City snow by an anti-snow, recently transplanted Californian or Floridian (maybe even a voodoo doctor from New Orleans) who was trying to bring our Park City weather in line with the warmer weather they were used to.  Consider the facts: These birds had never landed in Park City any year previously (not that I am aware of anyway). The birds magically appeared in late fall-early winter, just when the first storms should have been lining up. Once the birds appeared, the storms vanished. The birds’ pond never froze all winter long, proving the temperature near the flamingos at the pond was always above freezing.  For the future of Park City skiing, not to mention the 2034 Olympics, these birds must be removed! I realize that this scientific explanation might sound preposterous to some. But there is no other rational explanation, and a curse is a curse. Just ask your grandmother.  The only way we can guarantee snow next winter and in the future is to remove these pink birds. However, my fear is that whoever removes the birds might end up transferring the curse from Park City to themselves, guaranteeing no snow for the rest of their lives.  So I am asking the community, is there no pickleball player or cyclist who hates the winters and who will be willing to perform the deed and lift the curse? Think of it, no snow to interrupt your activities for the rest of eternity! You can play and cycle in the sunshine forever!  If there are still no volunteers, maybe we can organize a Go Fund Me?   Jeff Pyros Kamas The post The flamingo curse appeared first on Park Record. ...read more read less
