VALLEJO, Calif. (KRON) — The City of Vallejo has reached a multi-million dollar settlement with the family of a man shot and killed by a police officer in 2020. Sean Monterrosa of San Francisco was fatally shot outside a Walgreens in Vallejo in June 2020. His death came during a period of nation al unrest following the killing of George Floyd. The Walgreens store had reportedly been robbed hours before the shooting. When officers responded to investigate, Monterrosa was shot. According to police, the officer who fired mistook a hammer in Monterrosa’s pocket for a gun. On Friday, the City of Vallejo issued a statement apologizing to the Monterrosa family.
