An out-of-control SUV rammed into a pair of delivery workers and other vehicles in Harlem, killing a bicyclist and injuring nearly a half-dozen people in a high foot-traffic area near the famed Apollo Theater Thursday night. Witnesses say the driver was coming down 125th Street when the person l ost control of the vehicle and hit two delivery workers who were on their bicycles. One of those workers later died, officials said. After that initial collision, police say the SUV hit an unoccupied NYPD vehicle before slamming into an 18-wheeler, where it came to a stop. At least four other people were hurt, in addition to the person who died. Details on the extent of their injuries weren’t immediately available Friday. Footage from the scene shows extensive damage to the vehicles. “It was like an explosion,” said witness Jonathan Morillo. “It hit the gray car that was waiting over there. Then the pieces, they flew off, hit my car, too. Like he hit the truck and just kept stepping on the gas.” The driver was taken into custody.
