‘LinkedIn Speak’ translator goes viral amid layoffs across US
Mar 19, 2026
(KRON) -- With seemingly an increase in layoffs across multiple industries, notably tech, in the United States, laid-off workers are taking their grievances to the social networking platform LinkedIn.
You've probably seen the "#OpenToWork" avatar on numerous LinkedIn profiles for people, such as r
ecently laid-off workers, looking for a new job -- coupled with a multi-paragraph post on their profile expressing the disappointment that comes with being laid off.
On the flipside, LinkedIn posts are an opportunity to show off to the world one's accomplishments at their job. For some, the posts can get repetitive by using cliché office and corporate vocabulary terms.
To poke fun at that, a Bay Area-based tech company created a translator that features an option for "LinkedIn Speak." The free web service on Kagi has recently gone viral -- mostly for poking fun at the cliche nature of LinkedIn posts.
"Babe wake up someone created Google Translate for LinkedIn," an X user posted Tuesday morning, which has nearly 10 million views. The user posted a screenshot of his "LinkedIn Speak" from a sentence written in everyday speak.
In the comments section of that post, hundreds of users then joined in on the fun. See screenshots below. One user posted that the Kagi translator called "jail" a "high-security residency."

Warning: There are some prompts used on Kagi Translate that are NSFW from the comments section of the X post that went viral.
Other examples include one posted by X user @menrva33, who used the translator to describe an unfortunate personal situation. This was the exchange on Kagi that the user posted.
English: My wife cheated on me, took my house, the kids and my (expetive) car
LinkedIn Speak: I'm excited to share that I'm entering a new chapter of personal growth and radical life restructuring. Recently, I've successfully offloaded several major assets -- including my primary residence and vehicle -- while transitioning into a new co-parenting paradigm. This unexpected pivot has been a masterclass in resilience and navigating complex stakeholder realignments. Grateful for the opportunity to embrace a minimalist lifestyle and focus 100% on my professional journey. Onward and upward! #NewBeginnings #Resilience #GrowthMindset #AgileLiving
Another example pokes fun at a prompt in which someone applied to 75,000 jobs but to no avail.
Even Duolingo, the popular language learning app, joined in on the fun. It posted on X a photo showcasing a new language: "Linkedinese."
The product also does the translations in reverse from LinkedIn Speak to English. See screenshot below.
