NOTTOWAY COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A severe storm sweeping through Central Virginia early this week damaged multiple structures, brought down powerlines and caused hundreds of outages in Nottoway County. On Monday, March 16, severe thunderstorms brought heavy downpours and high-speed winds to Cent ral Virginia, knocking out power at tens of thousands of homes and businesses. The region saw widespread damage in multiple counties, including Henrico, Goochland, Brunswick, Dinwiddie, New Kent and more. Authorities with the Nottoway County Emergency Services on Wednesday, March 18, provided an update on the storm's aftermath. The county said most of the high-speed wind's impact was in the town of Crewe, where several roofs on commercial and residential buildings were damaged. About 263 homes and energy customers were without power at the peak of the severe storm. The county also received 15 calls to cut down or remove trees during the severe weather. Authorities said all incident scenes were stabilized within three hours. There were no reported injuries or deaths from the storm.
