HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Floorball Club finished its first showcase over the weekend in Henrico County, drawing in dozens of players from three states, according to officials.
Launched as a complementary event to the Atlantic Floorball Open, the showcase was held from Friday, Marc
h 13, to Sunday, March 15, at the RCSSC Annex in Henrico, combining beginner open play and tournament competition to expand the sport in the Richmond region.
“This weekend gave us exactly what we hoped it would — new people stepping onto the court, visiting clubs making the trip to Richmond, and a local community that keeps getting stronger each time we do this,” said Nick Baldaino, President of Richmond Floorball Club, in a press release.
Of the 51 participants who engaged with the Richmond Floorball Club over the weekend, 37 were from the Richmond area, according to the club. Thirteen of those 67 local participants were new to club events, while 6 picked up a floorball stick for the first time.

Per a release, visiting clubs NYC Football and Pittsburgh Forge joined three Richmond teams for a five-team field, supporting the club's mission of continuing to shape floorball’s growth along the East Coast.
