(KRON) -- A man returned to his Palo Alto home last weekend to discover a stranger attempting to steal items from his garage, according to police. Oakland man arrested after patrol officers catch aggravated assault in progress: SFPD The Palo Alto Police Department said the suspect remains at large f ollowing Saturday's burglary at a residence on the 4100 block of Sutherland Drive. "The resident, a man in his forties, went to his garage and saw a person that he did not recognize," said PAPD in a news release. "The suspect was placing items in a bag.  When the suspect saw the resident, he fled out the garage door and jumped over a fence.  The Palo Alto Police arrived within minutes and canvassed the area, but the suspect had fled prior to their arrival." There were no items reported missing from the residence. Police believe the suspect used an unlocked door to enter the home. The suspect is described by police as a Hispanic man, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, who was wearing a mask. "Detectives are actively investigating this incident," said PAPD.
