Man faces backlash after running 3 miles in airplane bathroom during 11‑hour flight: Watch
Mar 17, 2026
A marathon runner on an 11‑hour flight took dedication to a whole new altitude.
Determined not to break his training streak on the flight from Cape Town, South Africa to Munich, Germany, content creator and ultra-runner Dom Stroh turned the airplane bathroom into his own makeshift gym.
In a
video on his Instagram that has racked up more than 13 million views, he’s seen in the tiny lavatory, smartwatch ready, not to use the bathroom but to log a 5K.
Inside the cramped space, Stroh begins looping in tight circles, stepping up onto the closed toilet lid, pivoting, stepping down, and repeating the motion over and over.
According to the fitness-tracking app Strava, the stats shown in the clip reveal he kept this circular routine going for nearly an hour.
“Luckily, I didn’t get dizzy,” Stroh chuckled. “My body is used to that kind of exercise.”
While the internet had plenty to say about his in‑flight workout, Stroh insisted he didn’t disturb anyone. He explained that he used the business‑class lavatory, which was less crowded, with “only about 20 people using this toilet.”
“It’s kind of funny,” he said. “I didn’t hear anyone knocking because it was during sleeping time, so not many people were going to the toilet.”
In the video, captioned “MILES High Club,” viewers flooded the comments. One user wrote, “Did you just block the toilet for 1 hour 😅😂.” Another joked, “So now I know the reason behind that turbulence,” while a third chimed in, “Unhinged… but also respect.”
This isn’t the first time Stroh has taken on an extreme running challenge.
In October 2024, he completed the Berlin Marathon dressed as a sock and months earlier, he ran the Hamburg Marathon dressed as a can of deodorant.
When he isn’t taking part in a goofy stunt, Stroh is a serious ultra‑marathon runner. Most recently, he covered 150.01 kilometers in Cape Town in 22 hours and 57 minutes.
