Sheriff’s Report: Equipment violation leads to arrest of intoxicated driver

An equipment violation led to the arrest of an intoxicated driver last week, according to a shift report from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies stopped a vehicle in the Snyderville Basin after they observed an equipment violation. However, they suspected the driver was intoxicated,
and the driver performed poorly on field sobriety tests.
The driver was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail on a suspected DUI.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple other calls between Monday, March 9, and Sunday, March 15, including a burglary, DUI and outstanding warrants.
Tuesday, March 10
Deputies were dispatched to a burglary in the Summit Park area. The door to a structure containing residential mailboxes was pried open the previous day. Detectives do not know whether any items were taken, and they have no information on a potential suspect.
Monday, March 9
Deputies responded to a vehicle burglary at a Kimball Junction hotel. The car’s owner said he left his truck unlocked and had approximately $800 in tools stolen overnight. Investigators do not have information on a potential suspect.
Deputies contacted and arrested an individual with an outstanding warrant at a fast food restaurant in Kimball Junction. The person also had narcotics with them at the time of the arrest.
Deputies stopped a speeding vehicle in the Snyderville Basin, and the driver reportedly smelled of alcohol. The driver performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was arrested for a suspected DUI.
