Chilly with lingering snow showers Cold air remains locked in across the Bluegrass region as an upper-level system slowly pulls away. Throughout the morning, scattered snow showers will continue, with light accumulations possible. Most areas can expect a dusting up to around a half inch, though a few localized spots could see up to an inch before the snow tapers off from southwest to northeast by the afternoon. A few slick spots have developed and because of this, Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect for the NW and SE portions of the Bluegrass through 9 AM. Use caution while traveling. Temperatures will stay cold, with highs only reaching the 30s. Even as winds gradually ease, wind chills early on will be in the single digits, making it feel especially brisk. Quiet and cold tonight Skies will quiet down overnight as high pressure builds into the region. With lighter winds in place, temperatures will drop into the 20s by Wednesday morning. Light snow returns Wednesday morning Another weak system will move through the Ohio Valley on Wednesday morning, bringing a round of light snow, especially across the northern and eastern parts of the Bluegrass. A light accumulation is possible, generally a dusting up to around a half inch. As the day goes on, temperatures will warm enough for the snow to mix with and change over to rain. Afternoon highs will rebound into the 40s for most areas, with some locations in southern Kentucky reaching the low 50s. Gradual warm-up into the weekend A warming trend will take hold through the end of the week as winds shift out of the south and milder air returns. Another weak system may bring a few scattered rain showers Thursday, mainly across the northeastern part of the region, but widespread impacts are not expected. By the weekend, temperatures will surge well above normal, climbing into the mid to upper 70s. Some southern areas could even approach 80 degrees. Watching the next system late weekend Another storm system is expected to approach late in the weekend, bringing gusty winds and another chance for showers and possibly a few thunderstorms. After that system moves through, temperatures will cool back down, with highs returning to the 50s to start the following week.
