What to KnowFears of a global energy crisis rose Monday as the war in the Middle East raged on. Brent crude, the international standard, was at $104 in early trading and U.S. crude surpassed $100 earlier in the session.  U.S.-Israeli strikes hit the Iranian capital and Israel launched new attack s on Lebanon this morning. Iran has fired hundreds of missiles and drones toward countries in the region hosting U.S. military assets.European allies reacted warily to Trump’s demand that they help secure the Strait of Hormuz or else, with Germany insisting the conflict had “nothing to do” with NATO members and Italy signaling a reluctance to expand missions in the region.More than 2,000 people across the Middle East have been killed in the conflict, with the largest death tolls coming from Iran and Lebanon.
