(KRON) -- The Bay Area will have multiple programs represented in this year's NCAA Tournament. The Saint Mary's College and Santa Clara University men's basketball teams are going dancing -- both representing the West Coast Conference. The Broncos (26-8, 15-3 WCC) punched their ticket as a No. 10 seed in the Midwest region and will play Friday against No. 7 seed Kentucky (21-13) in St. Louis. It is a historic feat for a Santa Clara program that has not appeared in the Big Dance since 1996. The Broncos' last NCAA Tournament appearance dates back to when basketball legend Steve Nash wore the red and white. The Gaels (27-5, 16-2 WCC) will be a No. 7 seed in the South region and will face No. 10 Texas AM on Thursday, March 19 in Oklahoma City. Saint Mary's clinches its fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, the longest streak in program history. Start times and TV broadcast information will be released at a later time. Stay tuned during KRON4 News at 10 p.m. for coverage at Saint Mary's and Santa Clara's respective campuses for reaction to Selection Sunday. This story will be updated. ...read more read less
