Authorities investigate incustody death of Oakland woman

A woman from Oakland was pronounced dead after being found unresponsive in her cell in Santa Rita Jail Friday, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said 37-year-old Kenyonna Farr was found unresponsive in her assigned cell during a general observation check a
t around 3:42 a.m. Despite life-saving measures performed by medical personnel, Farr was pronounced deceased at 4:18 a.m., authorities report.
Sheriff’s officials said Farr was initially arrested by Oakland police under suspicion of a court order violation and booked into the Santa Rita Jail on Tuesday at around 4:45 p.m. She was escorted to the Intake Transfer and Release area of Santa Rita Jail on Thursday, waiting to be transported to court, according to authorities.
The sheriff’s office said Farr was observed unresponsive inside her holding cell at around 7:20 a.m., and she was taken to a nearby hospital.
Farr was then cleared for further incarceration by medical personnel at around 12:30 p.m. and taken back to Santa Rita Jail, according to officials.
The sheriff’s office said the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
