Mar 13, 2026
MONROVIA, Ind. (WISH) — A man called 911 to say he’d shot his wife, and police officers found him and her dead in a home with an uninjured 4-year-old girl, Morgan County Sheriff Richard Myers said in a news release issued late Friday.
Morgan County Public Dispatch received the call about
2:30 p.m. Friday, and sent officers to the home in the 11000 block of Sashing Way. That’s in the Homestead Addition on the northwest of the town of 2,300 residents that is about a 30-minute drive southwest of downtown Indianapolis.
Officers were moving the girl to safety outside when they heard a single gunshot within the house.
Police reentered the home and found the man and woman with apparent gunshot wounds, the sheriff said. Emergency medical services were called to provide aid, but the man and the woman died in the home.
Medics took the girl to Franciscan Health Mooresville hospital for observation. Deputies also picked up her 9-year-old sister from school and brought her to the hospital to be reunited with her sibling. The two children were put into the care of the Indiana Department of Child Services.
Investigators on Friday night were not yet releasing the names of the man and the woman pending their positive identification. The sheriff said that the next of kin have been notified of the deaths, which were being classified as a murder-suicide.
