The California Highway Patrol launched a hit-and-run investigation Friday after a pedestrian was struck and killed on an Interstate 280 off-ramp in San Jose late Thursday, the agency said. The collision happened at about 10:20 p.m. Thursday on the southbound I-280 off-ramp to 10th Street, the CHP said. Responding CHP officers found the pedestrian, an adult male, unresponsive on the ground, lying within the far-right lane, the agency said. The pedestrian had injuries consistent with having been struck by a vehicle, the CHP said. Paramedics on the scene pronounced the pedestrian deceased at 10:44 p.m., the CHP said. The collision is being investigated as a hit and run, but the CHP did not immediately share any information about the potential suspect or suspect vehicle.
