Fish Shop, the acclaimed seafood star out of Scotland that famously counts King Charles III as a customer, planted roots across the pond last spring along the Southwest Wa
terfront.
At its first stateside location, chef Ria Montes — a newly named Rising StarChefs — celebrates the bounty of the Chesapeake Bay, from roasted rockfish to abundant seafood boils for brunch to buttery bivalves from Maryland’s Double T Oyster Ranch that are hand-delivered by its owner (who also lent a hand in the design).
What to order
Smoked trout-topped crumpets ($7 each), an all-time best seller at the Ballater original, will soon swap in crab once the mid-Atlantic season pops off in May.

Braised greens play well with applewood smoked bacon in the same side skillet ($7).

Fish Shop sits at the foot of the Atlantic’s splashy headquarters, which means sit-down sightings of top investigative journalists — like its editor-in-chief who broke that crazy Signalgate story a year ago — are likely.

Insider tip
Weekend-only seafood boils full of lobster, clams, mussels, and chorizo ($80) take full advantage of its outdoor patio, where there’s no shame in getting messy with your hands (and dropping shells in the process).
