Arrest made in murder of a woman found on Indy’s southwest side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department have made an arrest related to the homicide of a woman found lying in the backyard of a southwest side home.
Online police reports show Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 1300 block
of South Lynhurst Drive between West Morris Street and Plainfield Avenue for a death investigation around 11 p.m. Tuesday.
There, they found the woman suffering from trauma injuries. Medics arrived and pronounced her dead at the scene.
Coroners identified the woman Wednesday morning as 51-year-old Kimberly Stewart.
About three hours later, IMPD detectives arrested 45-year-old Travis Wolfe on a warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. He was also wanted for questioning about his possible involvement in the murder investigation.
He was found in the area of East 19th Street and North Drexel Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident.
Just before 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, detectives were able to arrest Wolfe for the murder of Stewart after several hours of interviews and investigative work.
