A recent article by Victoria Budiono chronicles the “silver tsunami” of ever- increasing need for services, insufficient resources and unsustainable costs that threaten to overwhelm us (“Hawaii doctors warn aging crisis is outpacing geriatric care system,” Star-Advertiser, March 9). Health c are in Hawaii and across the nation is still largely reactive. Most health care resources go to treating maladies after they materialize.
