      RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff’s Department says a traffic stop that led to a chase ended on I-77 Monday afternoon. On March 9, 2026, around 1 p.m. deputies tried to make a reckless driving traffic stop in the Two Notch Road and Roof Street area. Deputies say th e driver of the vehicle did not stop, so a pursuit began. The pursuit lasted for about 15 minutes, and came to an end when the driver collided with other vehicles making his vehicle inoperable on I-77 near Ft. Jackson, according to RCSD. Then both the driver and passenger of the vehicle attempted to flee on foot, but were apprehended by deputies. Both Cortez Jones and Lorenzo Chandler were placed under arrest. Jones was identified as the driver of the vehicle, and he was charged with reckless driving, misuse of tag on vehicle, driving under suspension, and failure to stop for blue light and siren. Chandler was identified as the passenger of the vehicle, and he was charged with pedestrians prohibited on freeways. Jones and Chandler were taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
