SF Chinatown stabbing suspect appears in court

The suspect in a violent daylight stabbing that was caught on video in San Francisco’s Chinatown last week faced a judge in court to enter a plea.
According to court documents, it’s not 37-year-old Jian Feng Huang’s first conviction in the Bay Area.
Huang, who is from San Francisco, was
charged with the attempted murder of Guohua Wu.
Huang was convicted of arson in San Mateo County back in Nov. of 2020.

Court documents detail that Wu, the victim in the attack, is in a medically induced coma and that the defendant’s blade “narrowly missed nicking or severing the victim’s aorta.”
The judge ruled that Huang will remain in custody without bail because he is a public safety risk.
A mental health evaluation is scheduled to be completed in approximately two to three weeks from Tuesday.
The judge also signed a restraining order for the victim.
