The Sixers’ injury miseries deepened Tuesday night. About 30 hours before tipping off vs. the Grizzlies, the team released the following update on Tyrese Maxey:  “Following consultation with multiple hand specialists, which included a review of additional imaging, Maxey has been diagnosed with a tendon injury to the small finger on his right hand. “Maxey will be re-evaluated in approximately three weeks. Further updates will be provided as appropriate.” Maxey hurt his right pinky late in the fourth quarter of the Sixers’ loss Saturday to the Hawks and the team initially ruled him out for its next two games. Tuesday’s update confirms a much longer absence for the Sixers’ All-Star guard, who’s averaged 29.0 points, 6.7 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.0 steals in an NBA-high 38.3 minutes per game.  The Sixers’ season has soured badly over the past month and injuries have again played a massive role. The team entered Tuesday night with a 34-30 record and eighth in the Eastern Conference.  The Sixers have minimal experience without Maxey this season and their net rating has been 11.5 points better with him on the court compared to off it, according to Cleaning the Glass. Healthy guards VJ Edgecombe, Quentin Grimes and Cameron Payne will surely take on heavier minutes in the short term.  Along with Maxey, Joel Embiid (right oblique strain), Paul George (suspension) and Johni Broome (right knee meniscus surgery recovery) were sidelined against Memphis.
