Fort Worth ISD to offer free meals for all children during spring break

As part of Fort Worth ISD’s efforts to combat food insecurity, eight campuses will serve as host sites for free, hot meals during spring break, the district announced in a release.
Children 18 and younger can receive free lunch regardless of whether or not they are enrolled in Fort Worth ISD. C
hildren must be present and meals are to be eaten on-site, according to the release.
Meals will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., March 17-19, at the following campuses:
Edward J. Briscoe Elementary: 2751 Yuma Avenue, 76104
Alice D. Contreras Elementary: 4100 Lubbock Avenue, 76115
Clifford Davis Elementary: 4300 Campus Drive, 76119
Diamond Hill Elementary: 2000 Dewey Street, 76106
Manual Jara Elementary: 2100 Lincoln Avenue, 76164
Leadership Academy at Maude I. Logan: 2300 Dillard Street. 76105
Christene Moss Elementary: 4108 Eastland Street, 76119
Western Hills Elementary: 2805 Laredo Drive, 76116

Fort Worth ISD has also offered free breakfast and lunch over the summer and free lunch during Thanksgiving break.
Students enrolled in Fort Worth ISD will return to class on Tuesday, March 24, following a day off for Chávez Huerta Day on Monday, March 23.
One in five children in the U.S. doesn’t know where their next meal will come from, according to Feed the Children. It’s a year-round issue, sometimes eased by free or reduced-cost school meals.
However, when spring break rolls around, children who rely on the National School Lunch Program for free or reduced meals are heavily impacted.
