OKC Zoo’s Baobab Lodge offers luxury overnight experience overlooking Expedition Africa
Mar 09, 2026
Reservations are now open for a new overnight stay at the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden that allows guests to spend the night overlooking animals in Expedition Africa.
The Zoo announced the opening of the Baobab Lodge, a safari-style “glamping” accommodation built in 2025 in Expedit
ion Africa, presented by Inasmuch Foundation. The lodge sits near the Savanna habitat, where giraffes, ostriches, cranes, Nile lechwe and eland share a mixed-species environment similar to habitats in Africa.
“One of the ways the OKC Zoo distinguishes itself is by offering exclusive encounters visitors can’t get anywhere else,” said Dwight Lawson, CEO and executive director of the Zoo. “We are excited to introduce guests to the Baobab Lodge for an overnight stay unlike any other.”
The lodge includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a shared living area with a kitchenette, dining space and smart TV. The primary bedroom includes a king bed, and a second bedroom has twin bunk beds. The lodge can accommodate up to 10 overnight guests with additional furnished cots in the common area.
Guests staying at the lodge will have extended access to Zoo grounds before and after public hours and receive VIP passes for daily activities such as flamingo encounters, lorikeet feedings and rides on the Endangered Species Carousel.
The outdoor deck overlooks the Savanna habitat and includes space for yard games and a firepit. Catering options are available, ranging from light snacks to plated meals and breakfast service.

Optional add-on experiences include a private night hike through the Zoo, animal ambassador presentations and giraffe feedings.
In addition to overnight stays, Baobab Lodge can be rented as a venue for private daytime events, including corporate meetings, reunions and celebrations. The space includes a large deck and a smart TV for presentations.
The lodge is located within Expedition Africa, a 12-acre area of the Zoo that includes habitats for African lions, Sumatran tigers and clouded leopards, as well as the Love’s Pachyderm Building and giraffe facilities.
