September 29, 1931 – December 29, 2025Arthur Lee Quinn died peacefully on December 29, 2025, at the age of 94 in the William E. Christoffersen Salt Lake City Veterans Home, with family members by his bedside. A resident of Utah from 2019 until his death, Arthur moved to Park City after Sharon , his beloved wife of fifty years, passed away. He lived with his daughter Elizabeth and her family until an illness necessitated moving to the veterans home. For six years, Arthur enjoyed the mountain life and developed a great group of friends, affectionately nicknamed the “Park City Posse.” The posse enjoyed leisurely lunches at picture-postcard spots in and around Park City, as well as evenings at the Park City Film Series, the Egyptian Theater, and the senior center. While living in Park City, Arthur also fulfilled one of his lifelong dreams and became a published author. Three of hischildren’s books—The Rarie, Brendan the Brave, Book 1, and Brendan the Brave, Book 2—were produced by local publisher Katie Mullaly of Surrogate Press and illustrated by Utahns Maddie Michael and Colby Green. After graduating from Georgetown University Law School, he began his career as a prosecutor with the Judge Advocate General corps of the Air Force from 1957 to 1960, during which time he never lost a case and rose to the rank of captain. He then practiced law for several decades in the D.C. area, specializing in agricultural regulation and foodstuffs produced in the region of Central America. He assisted the Department of Agriculture during the Ronald Reagan Presidential Administrationtransition. He also advised the administration before, during, and after the independence of Belize in 1981. In the 1990s and 2000s, Arthur worked with a nonprofit partner of USAID called Nutrition Education International to introduce soybeans as astaple crop in Afghanistan. Soybeans are an alternative cash crop to opium and a less-expensive protein source. It was dangerous work, but it brought Arthur great joy and pride. Arthur’s funeral was held January 31 at his high school alma mater, Georgetown Preparatory School. His ashes will be interred with his wife’s at Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined. A celebration of life will be held in Park City this summer.
